New Jersey’s gaming authorities (NJDGE) unveiled a report for February revealing that the state’s sports wagering and digital casino sectors expanded compared to the previous year, however, sports betting activity decreased to its lowest point since August 2020.

New Jersey’s sports betting market experienced a slowdown in February, despite year-on-year growth.
Total gambling earnings for the month amounted to $288.3 million (£207.3 million/€242.3 million), slightly exceeding the $287.3 million recorded in the corresponding month of the previous year, but falling short of the $346.4 million recorded in January 2021.

Sports wagering revenue reached $46.2 million, marking a 171.8% increase from $17 million in the same period of the previous year, but significantly lower than the record $82.6 million achieved in January.

Gamblers spent 50.2% more year-on-year on sports betting, reaching $743 million, yet this represented the lowest monthly activity since August 2020, even considering wagers on the Super Bowl. Online betting totaled $689.2 million, while retail sports betting activity amounted to $53.7 million.

FanDuel and PointsBet at Meadowlands maintained their position as market leaders in February, generating revenue of $27.2 million, a 147.3% increase from the previous year. Resorts Digital and DraftKings secured second place with $7.7 million, followed by Borgata with $5 million.

In the online casino sector, revenue attained $93.8 million, reflecting an 80.4% increase from $52 million in the same period of the previous year, but a 9.6% decrease from the record $103.8 million achieved in January.
