The British Columbia Gaming Commission (BCGC) has earned a distinguished mark of excellence for its dedication to ethical gaming practices. The World Lottery Association (WLA), a worldwide leader in lottery management, has granted them the highest level of accreditation. An autonomous board commended BCGC for surpassing expectations, emphasizing their player awareness initiatives as exemplary models that showcase true ingenuity. This marks the fifth consecutive time that BCGC has attained this premier recognition, demonstrating their commitment to player well-being. BCGC is notable as one of only 13 lottery authorities in North America to reach this certification standard. Marie-NoĆ«lle Savoie, a BCGC executive, stressed that this honor reflects their player-focused strategy and their continuous endeavors to enhance player health and security. The WLA evaluation encompassed various facets of BCGC’s responsible gaming program, including studies, employee instruction, and public outreach, all of which met or surpassed industry benchmarks.
The British Columbia Gaming Commission (BCGC) has earned significant accolades for its dedication to ethical gaming practices. The Global Lottery Organization (GLO) particularly commended BCGC’s pioneering PlayerSense initiative, a distinctive program offering tailored assistance and tools to empower individuals in making responsible gaming choices. The GLO also recognized BCGC’s comprehensive self-restriction program, Play Pause, and its commitment to rigorous player verification protocols within its gaming establishments. These endeavors, coupled with the authorization of the PlayerSense trademark to fellow gaming providers, underscore BCGC’s resolve to champion responsible gaming throughout the sector. This accreditation from the GLO remains effective for a three-year period.
This distinction follows the recent unveiling of BCGC’s yearly performance report, entitled “Securing Tomorrow: BCGC Annual Report.” The document outlines the organization’s accomplishments in 2022/23, notably its progress in environmental, societal, and governance (ESG) objectives. BCGC’s commitment to ethical gaming is interwoven throughout the report, alongside its initiatives in areas such as Indigenous reconciliation, inclusivity and diversity, and environmental sustainability.
BCGC persists in innovating and broadening its offerings, as demonstrated by its recent collaboration with Immediate Victory Gaming (IVG) to introduce the popular “Prepared for Life” game on its PlayNow.com platform.
